False Brethren (Part 2)

We have all heard rants about false prophets, false apostles and false teachers but scarcely do we talk about false brethren. Wherefore I’ve taken the time to graciously introduce the subject – False Brethren. In this second part I’ll utilize the effort to deepen the lesson.

Let me state lucidly that false brethren are greedy, tricky and capitalize on the love of God towards them to dabble in various vices. The story of David (King), Bathsheba (Uriah’s wife) and Nathan (The Prophet) tells of false brethren.

David was a man loved by God. He capitalized on the love and mercy of God to take another man’s wife. After satisfying himself, an unexpected pregnancy occurred. To avoid the shame David crafted a plan that eliminated Uriah. (Read 2 Samuel 11)

The prophet Nathan gave David a parable which implied that as a king, David could have married any woman of his desire in his kingdom unlike other men _ particularly the poor Uriah. After this parable David passed judgement that the culprit should face severe consequences (without knowing he was judging himself). (Read 2 Samuel 12:1-15).

Just like David, many people (Christians) are greedily taking that which is not theirs to have; taking positions, properties, opportunities, wealth and arrogantly testifying in the Holy places of worship. This is falsehood! Yet people are quick to judge prophets, apostles and teachers in spite of the atrocities being perpetuated by the general congregation.

Traders and entrepreneurs sitting in the pew are adding outrageous profits all in the name of making ends meet. Isn’t cheating a vice? Congregants are setting up drinking spots, selling alcohol and cigarettes just to destroy human lives yet prophets are the ones being backlashed. Christians who own TV and radio stations broadcast idolatry and fetishism. My heart bleeds at how the church is killing the church just to be in good terms with the society. My heart really bleeds. False brethren! False brethren!! False brethren!!! Not forgetting the numerous ‘so-called Christian’ parents who secretly make their children commit abortion in order to escape being vilified by society. Most of our ladies in our churches ‘sleep’ their way through to a high social pedestal, and yet we praise them as though they’ve achieved anything at all. Let’s not be blind to the vices in the pew all because we want to be at peace with society.

Let’s not be blind to the vices in the pew all because we want to be at peace with society.

David was the apple of God’s eye, yet he committed a gravious sin of adultery coupled with murder. Most of us behave no different from King David and yet we have the effrontery to judge others.

Let us pray……

Dear Lord Jesus, be gracious to me and keep me from paths contrary to righteousness. Save me from falsehood and help me to touch lives in a good way. Thank you.
