Fasting is the deliberate, temporary abstention from food or some types of food for spiritual reasons. Sometimes one can abstain from both food and water.
It obviously becomes starvation when it is not done with prayer, meditation God’s Word, Worship
Here we go,
1. To receive instructions from God. (Acts 13:2)
2. To appropriately serve God. (Luke 2:37)
3. It is in the will of God for us to fast. (Matt. 6:16-18) Jesus taught about it.
4. To discipline our soul. (Psa. 69:10)
5. To draw closer to God and oppose evil spiritual forces (Joel 2:12; Jugd. 20:26-27)
6. Gain revelation knowledge of God’s will. (Dan. 9:3, 21-22)
7. Help during severe trials. (Acts 27)
BONUS: Try to fast at least once a week, so that you may grow and mature in Spirit. Fasting doesn’t kill.

Worship is not,

  1.  Singing or listening to gospel music
  2. Crying (although it reveals your emotions)
  3. Kneeling (although it shows your honour)
  4. Closing your eyes (although it helps to avoid distraction)
  5. Offering sacrifice(s) i.e. giving offerings or tithes (although it is required)
  6. Lifting up your hands (although it expresses your submission)
  7. Bowing or prostrating (although it speaks of your lowliness)

BONUS: Worship is a matter of the heart; allowing the depths of your heart to fellowship with God. By this you will do these unknowably.

I prefer calling it quality time rather than quiet time. This is time spent before the Lord in fellowship; studying and meditating on the Word of God with a worshipful heart. It is better quality time.
Here we go, 7 Secrets of quality time:

  1. During your quality time you develop the most personal habit of all time, a regular time with God.
  2. During your quality time you draw near to God, and He draws near to you. (James 4:8)
  3. Quality time makes you read the most important book in the world, the Bible.
  4. Quality time is your personal school of the Word.
  5. During your quality time, you increase in your personal knowledge of Scriptures.
  6. During your quality time you experience the presence of God.
  7. Your quality time makes you steadfast and aware of your actions.

BONUS: Spend at least 30 minutes with God daily through your quality time.

Jesus Christ’s Prayer in John 17 is called The High Priestly Prayer. He prayed as a High Priest. This prayer is in two (2) parts: 1. For the Shepherd and 2. For the Sheep

1. For the Shepherd

What the Father should do – Glorify the Shepherd.
“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee…And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” 17:1,5

2. For the Sheep

Edify the Sheep by:
i. Keeping them (17:11)
ii. Unifying them (17:11)
iii. Filling them with joy (17:13)
iv. Protecting them (17:15)
v. Sanctifying them (17:17)
vi. Perfecting them (17:23)
vii. Receiving them some (17:24)
viii. Filling them with love (17:26)
